Why should you enroll yourself in Obamacare?

The variety and affordability of North Carolina health insurance plans have improved greatly, thanks to Obamacare.  People have more choices than ever before when it comes to medical insurance. Help is at your disposal. When can you enroll?

If you would like your new health insurance plan to go into effect on January 1, 2023, you’ll need to apply for Obamacare between November 1, 2022 and December 15, 2022. 

About Obamacare Open Enrollment

The private health insurance plans which are approved and supported by the Affordable Care Act are open for enrollment once a year, during the "Open Enrollment" period. If history repeats itself in this case, the Obamacare Open Enrollment period will run from November 1st to December 15th every year.  Policies purchased during that time frame will go into effect on January 1st of the coming year.

Open Enrollments exceptions

  • North Carolinians (and all American citizens) can only apply for Obamacare health insurance during the ACA Annual Open Enrollment Period. If you miss that Annual Open Enrollment Period, you may be able to enroll during a Special Enrollment Period if you experience a Qualifying Life Event.

A Qualifying Life Event is a significant life transition, such as:

  • A marriage.
  • The birth or adoption of a child.
  • The termination of employment.
  • A move to another state or county.

Obamacare mandates that its health insurance plans cover eight treatments specifically connected to women's health. Prenatal care, breastfeeding support, diabetes education for expectant mothers, HIV screening & counseling, STD testing & treatment, and other preventative health measures are all part of these programs. These preventive services are offered at no cost to all women covered by Obamacare, so that they can take advantage of them without worrying about their insurance deductibles or out of pocket expenses.

Fairness & Equality for health insurance premiums

Overpriced premiums cannot be charged to those with pre-existing conditions as a means of financial exploitation by insurance carrier.
